| The Craythorne is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Head Golf Professional John Cheetham. He takes over the role from Lee Mason who is now concentrating on playing full time and moves aside to the role of Playing Professional whilst still being attached to The Craythorne.
John has relocated down to the Midlands from Manchester where he was a teaching professional at a large driving range academy and boasts 10 years experience in the golf industry. John was selected to undertake the Applied Golf Management Studies degree at Birmingham University from 2002 to 2005 whilst also completing his PGA training exams at the Belfry. The degree is the first of its kind in the world allowing students to study modules such as: swing theory, golf psychology, event management and retail in the golf industry. John graduated with a BA honours 2:1 and achieved a score of 98% in his level 3 coaching exam. John captained the 1st team at University and earned a scholarship from the R & A and TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) to help strengthen all aspects of his game. Since University John has gone on to compete to Challenge Tour level and in 2008 was the Lancashire Open champion. John has consulted with top coaches in the UK and abroad and together with his own qualifications, experience and business knowledge is well positioned to offer a comprehensive coaching and retail service at The Craythorne. John is keen to hit the ground running and offer a complete coaching service ranging from individual lessons to weekly groups for ladies, gents and juniors. John’s coaching philosophy is very much tailored to each individual to promote an increased understanding of their swing. He aims to build a connected golf swing that consistently repeats in both practice and competition. Having also specialised in golf psychology at University, John integrates this aspect into his teaching and will be running courses for all golfers in the Burton and Derby area. Please keep an eye out for the classes and tuition available over the coming weeks and John looks forward to helping all standards of golfer in the up to date techniques available. |
